2x ASDA Carving Pumpkin (EACH) £3.00 £2.00
I didn't grow pumpkins this year and wish I had:o
They add something magical to a garden and are lovely to have around the house leading up to Halloween.
Next year:)
Truly - I tried Pumpkins again this year on the allotment - for 2nd year running the plant became huge and grew loads of leaves - no fruit. Not sure if too cold this year or whether something pinching the flowers. so next year I will be buying - so you did the right thing :rotfl:

We have grown them a few times with a little success and I was told that if you only have a batch of male flowering plants then the chances of pumpkins are not good...although this year because of the wet weather earlier in the summer I think lots of the fruits formed and ended up going bad, although later varieties did better as there was then a dry warm spell.
I like the idea of growing them yourself...but having done it a few times and with some odd shaped results it probably is much easier to buy them at the supermarket!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I was just thinking...the glitches at the moment look like they are on the long life convenience type foods...micro rice and colemans mixes....just perfect for all those new student kids who have recently embarked on living away from home at university...
That will be mummy me next year buying a stockpile for ds1....
Also handy to have in stock if we get the bad winter weather that's being forecast.0 -
