Mortgage/Remortgage Help!!

Hi

Im new to this and would really appreciate any info/opinion on my query... here goes...

My husband has mortgage in his name and part was taken out by his dad in order for him to buy his house, the part his dad has is interest only and is due for payment in 4years. My husband now earns more money and although I am not on the current mortgage- we would like it to be a joint mortgage- although I have a bad credit rating? In order to pay the IO part of the mortgage- we will obviously be looking to remortgage, we are currently overpaying this in order to get the combined amount lower so that there is enough equity in the house to remortgage- should have £110k in mortgage and house worth around £130k.

What advice would you give?? we ideally would like a joint mortgage but are worried that my credit rating-(past problems over 6years ago, before I was married) may hinder our application. also we have a couple of credit cards etc but we have never been late paying bills.

Many Thanks
