Still haven't heard from the OR!!!

Just a bit worried here. I was declared BR last Monday 20 Aug, however the OR has still not been in touch with me. I called them and was told they will call or write to me with 7-10days - it is 10days now!!

Just want to know if they are going to ask for payments each moth & also want to know if I am going to be able to keep my car.

Luckily I got a new bank account with Barclays after my BR so at least I can get my wages on Friday!

Any idea when I should hear from the OR?????

Hi Claire1974 took awhile for OR to contact us also about 14 days.I think their so busy at the moment. Its difficult because you need to know were you stand but dont worry.Just work off your I & E sheet and pay those things that need paying .As for food and saved cash - for mot, maint, hols, clothes ect.I take monthly allowance out and put in envelopes marked with what they are for.Just carry on but now you can see were your money is going so it is easier to controle. The OR will contact you and its not as scarey as we all anticipate. Its only someone like you doing a job of work so dont be scared but make sure you have all your paperwork ready in front of you for your interview it will be much simpler if your both looking at the same sheet of information.
Hope this helps ,I am confident a lot more people will reassure you aswell. So have a nice drink a bar of choclate and a hug from someone you love to make you feel better:j

I wouldn't worry, Claire - it took almost three weeks for the OR to contact me, and a further ten days before my OR meeting.

  • Hi Claire,

As you've probs seen on my thread I went bankrupt today. I was told at the court that it would be 10 days, but I believe I was phoned imediately because they were quite keen to get their hands on my assets! I'm just guessing that this is the case... but maybe 10-14 days is standard unless they have something that needs sorting/answering quickly?? (Again, no expert but that seems to be why I was dealt with, I don't actually have my proper full telephone interview with the OR until the 24th September!!)

  • Hi Claire,
I was declared bankrupt nearly 3 years ago. I got a 6 months discharge but the official reports did take a while to come through. Dont worry the OR will contact you. Unless your car is worth a considerable ammount of dosh they usually let you keep them - we got to keep ours and didnt loose anything from the home, or any personal items.

The ongoing problem is in `starting again`. i`ve still only got a very basic bank account and can`t get any form of credit however small.

Its nice to dump the debts - but I have been left feeling a bit `on the shelf` financially.
I`d apppreciate anyone`s advice on how to build yourself up again? Ok - I`ve no debt - but I`ve no way to really fuction either. I have to rely on my husband to put his name to anything.
BR has been a help - but also a hinderance. Still...I suppose i can`t muck up again cos I basically can`t function.
