Firstly apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. ( sorry I think it should be in the consumer vent board?)
When I moved house in June, I subscribed to Sky and got their 3 for £26 deal.
I suddenly lost viewing back in July and an engineer called out to take a look at the problem.
They advised that my lost viewing was down to th building works going on next door to my house, a block of apartments have gone up over my house and blocked the signal.
Sky assured me that I should keep my contract running on a lower priced package, and when I had sought permission from the building owners to have my dish re-sited, they would come and move it and I would be refunded for loss of viewing.
I wrote in to confirm this with Sky and have had a letter back today to say they are not going to give me a refund.
After 20 mins on the phone to sky getting no where, despite having the name of the person who said I would be entitled to a refund, they are still refusing to give me a refund, they just keep saying that I have to write in again if I have a problem!! (despite the letter saying if I need more help to call them!)
I asked the man I was talking to for his name so I could put it in my letter and he said 'My name is Omi, O.M.I' I asked for his surname, and he just cheekily said, 'No, that's my full name Omi' which really really annoyed me!!!
Needless to say that I am very angry at having been told this false information by Sky in the first place just in order to keep my contract, I have cancelled my direct debit and intend to write to them but I am so annoyed that they have done this.
Do I have any consumer rights as far as this goes? Or do I have to come to terms with losing the money I have already paid to them?

I don't see how you are entitled to a credit for loss of viewing if someone has built up apartments where you live - not exactly Sky's fault.
I think Sky have given you a good deal by offering to re-site the dish.
About the agent on the phone... his surname is none of your business. I wouldn't imagine you would feel very comfortable giving you full name to strangers.
If you want to uniquely identify someone ask for the employee id number.
Cancelling you direct debit wont do any good. Something called a contract you might want to read up on. All that will happen is you will lose your TV, phone and broadband and still ultimately having to pay for them.
Your best course of action now is to set up the DD again. Downgrade your TV package to the basic two mixes @ £15 (from September this package goes up to £17 and then you can downgrade to 1 mix @ £16). Then obtain permission for your dish to be moved and send a copy of this to Sky.0
