Nationwide Bank Account

Hi All
Does anyone have experience of how nationwide building society will react in terms of bankruptcy? Will they freeze and close my account or would I be able to get them to allow me to keep using it?
They have never been a creditor of mine in any shape or form.
The only downside with them is they wont let my wife take out a basic account with them, but that's another story. (FATCA)

Don't worry it'll all work out in the end

Sorry to say Nationwide never been bankrupt friendly..have in a few years seen the odd one or two accounts kept but seems VERY rare....it's still down to co op (open account BEFORE bankruptcy declaration) or barclays basic account for nowNot quite a newbie as you think

That's a shame - they've always been very good to me.
I had a falling out with the Co-op in the last year or so and ended up falling foul of the 3 strikes rule. Looks like I will have to go down the Barclay's route which on an ethics standpoint alone I am reluctant to do so, but if it's the only way I can maintain a bank account then so be it.Don't worry it'll all work out in the end

Maybe open a Nationwide Card Cash account or get your existing account converted before going BR?
It seems Card Cash accounts will be converted to Flexbasic Bank accounts in December ( Cash Card is changing on 1 December 2015 to the new FlexBasic current account. http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/cash-card/apply )
So, if you have a Card Cash account, you may be lucky and be allowed to keep it.

I had no debt with Nationwide, in fact I had loans that were eventually settled after the course of the loan was completed. I was made BR by an American Company on behalf of MBNA and my Nationwide FlexAccount was suspended straight away. I had to call the OR while in the Branch to get my monies released..
I was offered a cashminder type account, I actually left and went to the Coop, surprisingly enough 5yrs later looking to invest in an ISA I went to Nationwide and they still had all my details and took my money open handedly ... It was a good deal as well.
May go back as they had been good too me and it was not their fault, I now have an impeccable record and 71 months of no issues so in a few months I may go back and approach for a bank account, I am actually earning more now than before, so lets see.I love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0
