Thanks so much for taking the time to explain it to me, I was just curious because like I said it sounds like you should get one and yet some companies send loads out!
We can't be that bad just going for a re-mortgage and we are classed as near prime they reckon next time I will shop on the high street. So maybe when I get my head round the remortgage but I will do what you are doing and see what they are lookign like.

so it would seem that the best plan of action is not to pay it off straight away, but to continue with the payments until the 6's dissapear. shame really as the interest is 21% I have been reliably told over the phone.0

I would want those 6's to disappear. Can you pay the majority of it off where you have less interest to pay? I know this will cost you more in the long run than paying it off now but if the objective is to have a good credit history, then you'll probably have to pay for it. If you paid it off all right now then I believe the file shows the last few months of how you managed the account (so you'd have 666!).
