Sainsbury's and Nectar Again !

Hi,

I recently moved energy suppliers to Sainsbury's energy / British Gas.
Part of my calculation was the amount of Nectar points I would collect as being part of the Sainsbury's Energy "clan".

Image my anger this morning when I receive a letter telling me I will get Zero points from Sainsbury's Energy after the end of this year as they are moving to a promotions based rewards scheme !
Great if the Promotion is something you actually need, not so good if you don't.

I feel totally misled !
They are still continuing to "hook" customers switching by advertising Nectar points on their customer switching call centre "you are in a queue" messages then afterwards they send a letter saying that they are ending the points rewards !!!

I'm not a happy customer and feel entrapment has been used to induce me to move suppliers.

What are your thoughts ?

    My neighbour has just had a letter from british gas saying they
    are stopping Nectar points .I'm with them as well so expecting
    a letter too . :mad:

    I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with this change.
    I know you say you have documentary proof, but of what exactly?
    e.g. were Nectar points a contractual benefit of the contract you entered into ... or a possible benefit such as cashback through a third party site?
    Assuming it was, was there anything within the terms to allow the supplier to vary such terms?

    I've not seen the detail, but usually terms allow a supplier to vary the contract as long as you are not disadvantaged by the change. If you are disadvantaged, then usually you have to be allowed to leave without penalty.

    I would suggest, having carefully first checked your documentation, that if you still feel aggrieved by this change, you follow the supplier's complaint procedure giving the supplier full details.
