Customer Service for a courier company

I'm currently being considered for this type of role!
more locally then Kent this time! so hopefully I'll be in danger of doing some work soon with Christmas coming up I can well imagine it one of the busiest times (though they still seem worried about the logistics of the home address mores the pity)

Just nosey, why is it so well paying? it is because it is so stressful? longer days? unpleasant surroundings?

Thanks for any insight :)

I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's all of those things - if you do get the job come back in a few months and tell us :).
  • I'd grow up for 18k! :D

Had the interview, seemed professional enough, perhaps I've been looking in the wrong places all this time. It was as I thinking plus boss with big character and less staff who were actually of the more mature variety, so probably where the bigger salary comes in too

Over 50 competing for the job with car parking so not so sure of my chance esp as I got the impression the predecessor was probably a bit older too.

I used to work on the phones chasing up parcels with delivery companies. I should imagine it is quite stressful as things get broken/ left in bins/ chucked over the fence so you'll have customers possibly ringing and the people that send the goods ringing. But a lot of it is being robbed off (I were told many times things went missing - quite how some of the stuff goes missing it's quite bewildering tbh
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:

Remember the blue murder of one such e-commerce company that used couriers... which after getting an earful from it's customers, would then feed that on to the courier so I think I know what'll be a coming! - gleaned a bit more about what goes on at the B'ham hub (which would have helped greatly back in the day! typical)

I still hope I'm a serious contender in the final 10 (only couple of weeks ago I quite wanted to speak to some payday loan borrowers so guess I have some strange desires on the perfect job!!)
The only bummer I could work out was the weekly paid, and not the greatest window of opportunity to be learning a new system ready for silly season! Thank you again.

it depends very much on the company - big boys ie UPS TNT not sure i'd want to work for yodel or hermes
The futures bright the future is Ginger
  • It's definitely one of the big boys! and they have offered the job ... Above all else they still express concern of the commute so I think I'd better do a dummie run before commit?

Good news on the offer. You haven't mentioned the commute previously (other than it not being in Kent), how far is it and how would you be doing it? Any weird working hours involved that might make public transport problematic?

    Thanks x

50 miles round trip - starting at 8am till 6pm so I'd be less enthusastic if it was 9-5 on the A12! own car - I'd be working in the very district I'm moving from ironically

I suspect the problem is this boss commutes and doesn't enjoy it,
so with no local knowledge of the area just hears Suffolk, moving and panics.?

If I remain where I am it'll be 65 miles as a round trip with the family unaware of what a debacle I've got myself into as I plumed for any job when last unemployed and really didn't think about logistics, really was away with the fairies. Though I have got the green light surprisingly over this offer from Dad so that is something. I've tried to find local work to the address being moved to but only thing positive was a 12 month maternity cover contract.
