Quick drying bathroom mat

  • I dry myself off fully before I get out so don't need a mat. I dry my body first, and just before getting out, I dry one foot, step it out and dry the other. I've always done this. I've never liked stepping on something damp, or with wet feet.

I did buy a couple of toweling mats in I think it was primark some years back, but I didn't use them. These are just thicker towels. I'd gotten these for my husband, but he seems to manage to dry off before getting out now. I found these better than the plastic backed one.

I wash my towel daily - but it's a hand towel - the size you'd use in a gym. Additionally they're quite light so dry off very quickly. 4 of these are the same size as my husbands main towel (they are very light, so in terms of weight probably even more of them can fit in the washing machine for the 1 big towel) Given I've short hair, the one small towel does me and my hair. I find them far easier to wash/ dry.

    - I started the practice of just using a small towel after an extended trip to Japan and seeing what they used. I've never gone back to bigger towels since - even if in a hotel. Far easier for washing/drying in a small space.

Can you put it in the airing cupboard over the tank if you have one?

    More good ideas, thank you.
I can't put those over door hooks in there as none of the doors have a sufficient gap even for the skinny ones which I used in the last house.

Frugalworker... I do like the idea of using small towels. I'd be okay with that, and I could try to educate the rest of the family. I'm really struggling to get things to dry in this house.

I throw a towel on the floor, my feet are dry before I am.

I put a towel down last night and no one has complained. In fact once I admitted that I hated the bath mat, everyone else piped up to say they hated it too!
Can anyone think of another use for it so that it doesn't have to go in the bin as it is only about a month old?

Pet bed? Or in front of kitchen sink? By your bed?
  • Use it to cover the compost bin?
I have now given up on bathmats due to OH and DS washing like walruses and use a slatted wooden thingy.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Have you tried Command hooks? You can get them in most supermarkets and thy have all sorts of types, special bathroom ones etc. I have 4 in our house and they're really strong, they supposedly come off without a trace when you want them to but admittedly I haven't tried that yet!

I wish I'd seen this before I went to IKEA today!! I was sure I would find a wooden slatted one in IKEA of all places but they didn't have anything like it. I got 4 small towels at the car boot for £1 so they will do the job.
