Barclaycard Debt?

Over a year ago I cleared my credit cards, and reduced the balance to about zero, in fact I think I was a few pence up on them both.

I was starting to get on my feet, consolidated my debt and cleared my barclaycard and my hsbc card with a hsbc loan.

I've since moved house (twice, I'm a nomad) but the other day I was given a statement from Barclaycard as my dad still owns the house I lived in when I first registered for the barclaycard and they've slapped on an insurance premium of £17 unbeknown to me, and obviously after not having these statements I've been making late payments and this has now rolled into them passing onto their in house debt collectors mercers?

I'm not happy to be honest, I don't want a fat black credit scoring mark next to my name for the rest of my life because of this and I'm quite reluctant to pay it per se as I don't think its totally ethical.

I suppose they'll talk me into paying it, but is there anyway I can argue my case and will this dog my credit scoring for the rest of my time whilst trying to get credit?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Not sure what to say really, the ideal would have been to close the account when you settled the balances. You could get in contact with Barclays and see what they have to say, chances are now its been passed onto a debt collection agency they may not speak to you.

Hopefully someone else will come along with what you can do in this situation.

    Sorry
