Mortgage with slim credit file

I'm looking into getting a mortgage and wondering what my chances are. I moved back to the uk and my credit report was blank around 16 months ago. I have a few things on my report now I'm on the electoral roll and I have a current account on there and my virgin media account. I am unable to get any aqua cards etc or any credit card at the moment but I have got myself two cash plus prepaid credit cards to appear as 2 loans on my report.

I will have around 15000 pounds saved up for the deposit in a few months and would like to buy a house. I earn 28k full time in fixed employment.

Would my blank credit file mean instant rejection or will the other factors be enough?

How long were you outside the UK?
I think if you have been out of the UK for 4-5 years or so bar the last 16 months, that will be a bigger issue.

It wont be impossible but most lenders woul want to see 2-3 years history in the uk if not more. I think you need to speak to a broker to give you the best chance possible.
