Thanks everyone, yes I think step change is my next port of call. Just so angry that yet again he can walk away from all responsibility and leave a trail of mess for others to pick up.
I may talk to the Nursing and Midwifery Council too and see what the position is re going bankrupt. Not the best option but yes it would wipe the slate clean.

With hindsight shouldn't the loan have been tackled some years back. After all the house was sold in 2008. Some overpayments , even small, would have reduced the debt owed.0 -

Hi pocketnurse
It's my understanding that bankruptcy should not normally have any effect on NMC registration. As a more general rule of thumb, insolvency should not impact on professions where there's no significant element of financial management and/or budget responsibility.

OP, any chance you can move to the US as well, would save you a lot in loan repayments!0

I work with doctors, and have worked with at least 2 who have been made bankrupt (BR tax codes)
I would contact the NMC, and your union for advice, but I would be shocked if being bankrupt would affect your registration.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0
