Found out how to do it but it's a bit convoluted. But thanks.

Is there something special with this offer i'm missing? You can download Avast for free from Avast without going to any external websites.

I think there are different versions of it, possibly (am guessing) the 'free' version will have adverts or more adverts? Not sure of the difference myself, maybe someone who knows what they are talking about can report back?

I haven't tried the link above but I don't like going through 3rd party websites.

I've had Avast internet security free for at least 5 years now. I've put the free version from the Avast website on all our household computers, and the mobile version on my phone. The only 'catch' is to renew every 12 months, for free. I've found Avast as good if not better than my mates antivirus that he pays £17+ for. Avast are on twitter.

Also includes a Smartcheck price comparison toolbar, if you're interested.
PS when you renew / download you will be offered 2 versions, one version is free, the other isn't. Keep your wits about you.

I haven't noticed any adverts with the free version of Avast from the Avast website.
  • I use Kapersky Internet Security, which is excellent. Totally free if you have a Barclays bank account, which I do.
