Interview Advice

Hoping to get some advice for an interview I have on Friday.

At present I am off work with my current employer due to work related stress as my relationship with my Boss has completely broken down due to equality issues and bullying.

Now what would you do in this instance when going for a new job, obviously its bad practice to bad mouth my current employer so how do you work around this and explain my reasons for not requesting a reference from him?

Thanks in advance for any help

  • It's a difficult one this is as on the one hand you want to be seen as being the correct person for the job but then as the saying goes honesty is the best policy.

In my personal view I would sugar coat the issue somewhat in the hopes of not being frowned upon by the potential new employer and dashing any chances of being taken on.

Sometimes it's best just to be honest. It might put some employers off you but if you explain the situation I'm sure most people would understand. Don't forget they are human beings as well!
