Losing benefits from contract?

When I joined my company we had lunch provided and at a subsisted rate. It is in my contract and company rule book. The lunch has recently been removed with no other option now available. Is this not a benefit that I should still be receiving? It is basically part of my salary as it was saving me hundreds a year?

Im not sure of the legal position on this, this is only an opinion -
Have you read all of your contract carefully? usually when benefits are included in a contract, there is also a clause stating that the employer reserves the right to unilaterally change or remove benefits, given notice.
Have they given reasons why they are removing this benefit? It is probably a cost cutting exercise, so is the company performance good? I have worked for two organisations that suddenly closed the subsidised canteens. No one ever mentioned any compensation, and it was never an official benefit. We just had to find something else.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Looks like you'll need to bring a lunch box from home. That won't cost too much maybe £1 maybe £1.50 a day so I'd ask for a £500 pay rise over and above what you would normally get which should cover your extra expenses after taxes and national insurance have been taken off.:footie:
