Some people think it helps if you don't just have comping tweets as well as interacting with a company beyond just a retweet and it may be that entries near the closing time are sometime favoured in winner selection.

(Proper random draw and none of the above should make any difference)
  • I used to win on pretty much a weekly basis on Twitter - then suddenly, it just stopped and I haven't won a thing on there in about 2 and a half months. Weird.
  • As said above, some companies on twitter don't like it if your feed is almost entirely comps. Little you can do about that.

Some say companies 'can only see the last 25 retweets' so going in right at the death gives you a better chance.

Only recently discovered that a lot of people hit retweet, copy the text, finish the retweet and also post the tweet text manually (like entering twice) because some companies 'choose from the comments'. Started doing this and it 'might' be helping.

Comment and interact - don't just retweet. Many companies choose winners who interact.

Set up a bot to do all the retweeting for you, you're bound to win some (that's a joke by the way - but there are people doing it annoyingly).

There's no knack to it - but lots of tricks you can try!

I won a few weeks ago from Dorothy Perkins by being the last one to tweet before the comp closed- it wasn't on purpose, I'd been asleep all day so only did some comping when I woke up. Have tried it since on purpose with no luck.

It might also be useful to know that you can get an add on for twitter that will do the manual RT. I know you can get it for firefox and chrome. If you search on google for "classic RT add on" you should find it. Its basically the Old style way of doing RT's and perfectly acceptable. The add on just gives you another option of the classic RT style next to the normal Rt button. You may have to reduce the actual tweet tho to get the number of letters to fit. Often you can get away with just altering "follow and RT" to "F&RT" You can then just hit the button or copy & paste it into the reply box.

I would suggest just putting in a little effort to learn what other Twitter compers do and use a variety of different methods. I've done much better since learning more tricks although I do also use Twitaculous now where you can RT any number of times (up to you to check the T&C though). after the 1st it comes up as a manual Rt. Many compers use it as an addition to MSE. Advantage I find is they list them by End time (although not always accurate) and they can be entered accordingly. They do charge a Fee for this now. Around £5 per month

Sometimes I do just the 1 RT, sometimes I do more- sometimes I repeat in the reply box with or without the RT at the start and the picture. Just cover all your bets.. there don't seem to be many rules with twitter and very few have T&Cs. you are at the mercy of the system companies use for selecting a winner and that seems to differ enormously,

But it would seem to me a big advantage is raising your TW credibility to having loads of followers and for that I believe you need to do manual RT' s.

    And do interact a bit
