what next...IQOR

have sent me a letter with an offer of a substantial reduction on the outstanding balance.
I've been on a DMP with PAYPLAN since april, have informed them of the letter i'm waiting for a reply.
The amount is £414 ,what do i offer if i do decide.

Has anyone had any visit from their HOME COLLECTIONS Division.

I do understand that this will make our DMP unstable just wanting to hear anyone's view on this.

    Hi CQ,

I receive that letter every 2 months without fail from Iqor offerig me a subtantial discount if I contact them and settle my account. I just ignore them now as I am not in a position to pay it off as I owe them in the region of £6500 on that account.

As long as you keep upto date with your repayment plan you shouldnt have a problem. If you are in in a position to pay of the debt then write and make ful and final offers of settlement.

details can be found at http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=24_full_and_final_settlement_offers

As for there home collections divison have the actually put that in the letter? Its not mentioned on the standard letter they send but as I said before as long as you are making the agreedpayments I doubt any action will take place.

  • Hi crown,

I'm at present paying them a £1 through payplan. In the letter it said "if we don't hear from me within 72hours they have no alternative but to instigate Legal Proceedings or instruct an agent from our Home Collections Divison to make a personal visit to your home for full outstanding balance".

I too am paying them £1 token payments as its all I can afford. The amounts are not important. Have they acrually written to you and said that they will accept this amount?

If not I would telephone them and explain that you are with Payplan and this is all you can afford to pay. Payplan should have sent them a copy of your income/expenditure so they should be able to see that you are doing what you can at present.

It sounds like typical bully tactics. Stand firm and do not agree to pay what you cannot afford. If it did go to the court stage the judge would look at the expenditure and would likely accpet your offer of repayment anyhow.

Can you call Payplan and check if they have heard anything directly from them?

Pure 'Scare Tactics'. These 'people' are trying to bully you into submission. In the UNLIKELY event that they WERE to instigate legal action a judge would see that you are 'serious about dealing with your debt' by going through Payplan. The fact that you are paying a regular 'token' payment, through Payplan, will only serve to STRENGTHEN your position.
These guys are, plain and simple, thugs.
Do NOT speak to IQOR - inform Payplan of this letter.

  • Hi crown,

I was contacted 2 weeks ago from Iqor by phone, saying they would give me till last Wednesday for payplan to give them all the details, then they would start the phonecalls again. But they must have recieved details because they haven't phoned since.
They haven't confirmed wether they will accept the DMP as yet.
Just concerned about having them coming to the door to collect full amount.

It would cost them a fortune to employ someone to come round and no one in debt carries £400 so really is just an empty threat. Its all standard DCA wording - remember DCA are just like your original creditors its the same process, make an offer, pay the offered amount and keep it regular.

IF a debt collector calls at your house, especially without prior arrangement, do NOT worry. They have NO AUTOMATIC RIGHT OF ENTRY and MUST LEAVE WHEN YOU ASK THEM TO.
Equally, you are under NO OBLIGATION to discuss the debt with them, and by refusing to deal with a nominated third party, in your case Payplan, they would be acting in direct contravention of the OFT Guidelines for Debt Collection:

You MUST report this harrassment to PAYPLAN. It looks as if IQOR are trying to exert undue pressure on you, in order to avoid having to accept your DMP payments.
