Certified copy of ID after completion

My partner and I recently bought a new build and the purchase was completed on 25 September. On 29 September, we got an email from the mortgage broker congratulating us and saying that they noticed that we never provided them with certified copies of our ID's and we need to get this done.

I know that we provided someone this (I seem to think it was the solicitors) because we had to drive back to the sales office on a Sunday to get our ID's certified. (The sales office had a stamp and it had all the correct wording on, but the broker now says we can't have the sales office do it - it has to be a banker, accountant, teacher, lawyer etc).

Everything is done - we have provided everything we thought we had to - what would happen if we don't do this? (We have so much stuff to do, that we keep putting it off and it's been almost 2 weeks).

I'll probably do it at some point this week, but was just wondering what the implications would be of not doing it and how we could have come this far without it?

If you have completed then nothing will happen.
Its probably the brokers file has been pulled up for audit with that missing.

Although I have heard that Halifax can request ID after completion, im not sure it will affect you but it could cause bigger issues for the broker if he/she is regularly not getting ID on file.

Keep the broker happy and use the Post Office Checking Service.
