SRJ Debt Collection Agency Closed Down

Hey!

I noticed this month my direct debit with SRJ Debt Collection Agency hadn't come out of my account so I checked their website - looks like they have ceased trading !

This is the message on their website.....

Thank you for visiting the SRJ Debt Recoveries website. SRJ has now ceased operations.

If you require further information regarding your account please contact your original creditor.

Does anyone have any experience of this happening? Will the original creditor (which in my case is BT) contact me or should I give them a call?

In all probability, SRJ bought the debt off BT, who will have no interest in it. So no point in contacting BT. And if SRJ own the debt, it is the administrators who will deal with it.

I suggest you cancel the DD and keep your records for 6 years. It may be that the Administrators will sell the debt on, in which case another company may contact you in due course, either to restart payment or to offer a full and final settlement. But if no one contacts you for 6 years, then the debt becomes statute barred.

How much do you owe currently and how much are you paying monthly?
  • Always warms my heart when another of these vile businesses suffer the same misfortune that they capitalise on in order to make money.
  • I have £120 left to repay and I've been paying £20 per month by direct debit, so not too long to go! : )

Keep putting that £20 aside. By the time anyone contacts you, you could offer £25 as full and final and possibly settle for £40.
