I have a Moto G (the Moto E just had too many drawbacks for me personally, no flash, no front facing camera, no 4G at the time, none removable battery) so I'm on the same page, but I don't pretend it's an iphone equivalent. I can't, for example, connect up to my works servers on it - I can on an Iphone.
A 1 bed flat would most likely be perfectly adequate for you too, but you don't choose to live in one, you choose to live in a 4 bed house and pay the extra costs associated.
You don't need a front facing camera or flash yes they are nice to have but not essential, why can't an android phone connect to your server.0 -

No, YOU don't need those things.
Many other people do. You can't apply your personal requirements to everyone else. Case in point is the other day when an energy consultant was using his phone to take pictures of the electrical units and other bits and pieces of the building - without a flash it would have been pointless.
As for why it can't connect, software encryption. Developers have sorted out IOS, but haven't with android yet (hence the Ipad).0 -

My pension is small compared to many people on here's wages or pensions, but I live a fulfilling life without IPhone, Sky, new car etc. most people have to compromise if you are not prepared to do that you can't expect to have the things you really want.0 -

You can pick up an iphone on contract, brand new today with no upfront cost at £25 per month.
Now you may think that's £300 a year.
However, most will still need a phone of some sort. The cheapest android equivalent is around £17.50 a month (for an equivalent contract).
So by not having an iphone you have saved yourself £7.50 a month. Or, £90 a year.
Hardly going to make a dent is it.
I'm fully aware and buy into getting value for money and not wasting money. But the way you guys go on about these iphones is ridiculous. Granted, £90 is £90. But you are talking in terms of this hindering the ability to buy a house....and at that point it gets ridiculous. Houses themselves are probably increasing £90 every couple of days, and you believe saving that much in a year is going to help?
Do you know what a metaphor is?
If someone is pleading poverty and can't afford a house but has an IPhone I'd question just how far up their priority list buying a house is and what else they're blowing money on.
For anyone saving money to buy a house a real dumb strategy is not to save and blow money on fripperies instead.0 -
The next 'big thing' is PCP car finance. Keep an eye out because new cars will soon be arriving outside rented accommodation nationwide.0

If someone is pleading poverty I'd agree with you,
But that wasn't and isn't the premise. If you are pleading poverty, buying a house is the last thing on your mind.0 -

Some leasing deals are stonkingly good value dependant upon your requirements though
Especially at the supermini end. With tax included and the warranty taking away the headaches you may have with your £500 second hand car, if the cars fit your requirements it can work out extremely good value.
Under £100 a month and no big bills to worry about? I'd be all over it if it fitted my requirements and I needed to buy another car. Just the saving on my tax would reduce it to £83 a month. Throw in the lack of an MOT (not even considering any repairs) and you are down to £78 a month.
Leasing an Audi A6 on the other hand is a completely different beast.0 -

Whatever. If someone's priority is to buy a house and they're wasting money that could be saved then buying a house isn't really a priority.0 -

I'm not sure the deals are quite as good as you think.

£267 deposit. £89 a month. 8,000 miles a year - plenty for most contemplating such a vehicle.
Maybe you could point out where I was wrong?0
