A friend of mine told me today, he purchase a toilet seat from a well known store, but had to take it back, as the seat was too small.
Are there really different toilet seat sizes????

I can recommend this one.

Had ours about a year now with no problems, easy to clean, REALLY easy to fit, and it doesn't have those 'stump' things under the seat, so no movement when you sit or move to the side.
Ok, not the poshest loo seat, but definitely does the job!I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

You complained because of your own ignorance and lack of homework and they gave you £10?? Crazy!0 -
there are differant sizes and the are many differant shapes ,, and differant fixings:T the most important thing is that the 4 lugs under the seat are contral with the pan,,, if not they will keep slipping from side to side,,, last year i was qouted 170 pounds for a seat yes £170 you read right ,,, the customer never when with it :T0

Yep, I've just ordered my new bathroom complete with new loo. the merchant I went to said that the basic cheap loos are standard, but any other loo requires a particular loo seat and I was advised to buy a spare seat as they said in a couple of years time I might not be able to get a replacement that exactly fits my loo.
Even in some older style properties the loos were not standard and I recall about 15 years ago having real trouble finding a loo seat that fitted my mums non standard loo.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I must have a bog standard size loo, just bought a new seat from B&Q and never checked sizing and it fits!0

Yes there are dozens of shapes/fittings, trust me I've been looking into it on the net as our downstairs loo is fairly small. It;s a minefield of sizes and fittings!
I have noticed a multi-fitting kit for toilet seats on amazon which may be useful. But for me the search goes on. Meanwhile we're stuck with the dodgy old one.0 -
Beware when buying a new suite, two years ago we had a new bathroom suite fitted that cost a fortune and lately the seat as cracked and to my surprise I am unable to locate a new seat,we are having to completely change the toilet and make good the floor and wall tiles0
