    Landlords can only see CCJ's, BR's, IVA's and DRO's.

They cannot see how much you owe on credit cards and whether or not you are in arrears or defaults. They won't know you are on a DMP unless you tell them.

I am a landlord. We look at regular salary coming in and that's about it.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • I understand completely what I have done by accepting a house which has repair issues. The only reason why I choose to buy it was because the council would offer me a high rise in one of the high rise flats in a high crime rate area. I choose to swap for the simple reason that I help care for a close family member who had a severe stroke which lived 5 mins away from me and now is terminally ill. Plus the fact I didn't want to move but would end up being forced to.
The only reason why I couldn't end up borrowing additional funds was because a right to buy is restricted to additional borrowing for the first year at least. This was not advised to me. Unfortunately I can't change what an idiot I am for being put in this position
I need to be able to try and move forward.
Also to the reply of credit checks I had already completed an application on a house through an agent for a property approx 6 mths ago and they declined my appliction on the grounds of a credit score.
  • I realise this is distressing for you, but the background is still not clear.
    house value= 110,000, minus the 65,000,16,400 and 4,200 leaves £24,400 equity.
you have done £4000+ of repairs, leaving £6,000 to be done.
£24,400 minus the £6,000 leaves £18,400 equity. so still room to sell up without losing everything?
could you rent the spare room out?
if you have gone on a DMP for the £4,200 debt how where you going to afford £10,000?

Please forgive me if I sound naive. Would need more info to help. In terms of location you are where you want to be and need to be for the ill family member? And if these 3 issues didn't exist then you would be happy living there?
I would stay and save and scrap together the money to fix it.
Which is the cheapest to do? Which is the most necessary. Use the extra income tips to build up some money. I've found selling on eBay has brought in a good few hundred, sure it's in bits but it soon adds up.
I would list the three amounts in order and have a savings jar for it. If you say got the lean to removed and the guttering fixed? I'm guessing the chimney is the really expensive bit?
You said you have a spare room could you have a lodger? I am not up on council rules. X
    Loan 1 £5200/£8000
    Loan 2 £300/£5800
    Total £5500/£13800
