If anybody's ever won a piece of jewellery or watch. Have you had it valued and if so was there a difference between the values?

I won a Krug Brumen watch from Watches2U once. They valued at £165. I'd say more like £20 which is what they were selling on ebay for.Prize fund 2025 £197

Snap - I won one of their watches too that they said was worth around £200 and when I googled it they were selling the exact watch on Amazon or Ebay for £20!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
A long time ago my mother won a ruby which had a certificate saying it was worth £400. She took it to a local jeweller with a view to having it put in a ring. The jeweller said it was worth £30 tops.

I think a few companies tell porkies just to get more interest! I have seen fashion items up for grabs worth £xxx and when I've checked out their site, the item is in the sale for 1/4 of the price!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

Jewelry probably comes in at around 10% of the stated value0

Watches2U seem to sell a lot of overpriced things. I won this from them, they sell it for £35 but probably make it for under £1. Certainly wouldn't spend that much on such a thing myself. Especially considering, from what I can gather, you attach it to your pet's collar.. and this one seems to feature a paw print being stabbed with an arrow?!0

i won a theo fennell sterling silver vaseline holder value claimed at £350. took it to a jewelers - offered me £17.50 for the weight in silver, eventually got £50 on ebay for it. the jeweller basically said the price was bumped up for the name, fennell not Vaseline!0

a new Krug Baumen does retails for around £200 but they are fashion itmes so only remain new for a short period, after that their price/value drops , I found that most are retailing for around £40-50.
TBH does it really matter what a prize is "worth" surely if you like your win that's it. I'm a proud owner of a Krug Baumen & paid £45 for it as it was the last one in that colour. New ones in less nice colours were for sale at £195 in th same shopproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0
