bank does not know

Can anybody tell me whether this is usual please. I was declared BR on 13th August.....I actually wrote to my bank - my branch - on 15th informing them because I wanted to ask them something.....I have received a letter today dated of yesterday saying that my account is still overdrawn - usual standard letter that you recieve when it is overdrawn......Why do they not know about my bankruptcy yet......I even received a phone call from a credit card company yesterday saying that my payment had not been received.....for the most part the phone has stopped ringing - but surely my bank at lease should know by now. I can even still access my bank account details online.

Any thoughts appreciated....Thanks.

Best wishes

    That is nothing unusual worried123.:D

The OR will write to banks and other creditors but it often takes a little while for them to get round to all of them.

If you get any undue or persistent hassle from a creditor you can just quote them your Court, case number (xxx of 2007), and the OR office dealing with the case. If any correspondence you receive concerns you then forward it to the OR with a brief note.

Even when creditors have been informed by the OR it sometimes takes a while for the the info to filter through the various creditors departments. Funnily enough it seems to take longest for collection depts to get the message.

Yes it can take ages. My bank HSBC kept my account open for three months. Of course, they kept banging charges on too, but I was past caring :) If you want to rush it along, phone and ask to speak to the bankruptcy team. The are usually able to so a search on the insolvency register, and once they've checked your details on there they'll usually update your records immediately. At least, they did with me. :D
