New job jitters or something more?

  • So yesterday was my first day. It was a disaster.

I won't go into the specifics because Company A is a household name and it wouldn't surprise me if they put two and two together.

What I'll say is that the agency that got me the temp role screwed up monumentally to the point where I showed up for the job with all the incorrect information. Nothing is as it was explained to me and I'm still waiting for most of the correct details.

The level of the screw up meant I'd also cancelled my two permanent job interviews for no decent reason.

I did start but as I am still waiting for the correct details, I have to decide whether I want to continue working for such an agency. I'm disappointed because after my first day, Company A seems like it would be a decent company to work for but my agency has just ruined this for me.

Even spoke to JSA and when they heard the story, they advised me not to end my claim just yet but see how this first week goes.

So definitely not new job jitters.

I am not 100% sure of your meaning but if you mean do I think it would be a springboard then Yes I do. There are a number of companies, large and small, in my home town and surrounding area which would find the skills and knowledge I'll gain desirable.

Oh well, I am sure those companies will really be queuing up to offer you work, having only weeks under your belt through some dodgy agency (who won't be in an employer's eyes). Have fun explaining away your current situation because I don't buy into it's easier to get employment whilst employed.

I said it with validity - I've been to a competitor of a business I use to work for a job, exactly the same role - direct too.
Never means you are guaranteed anything just because you once were a part of something, sometimes quite the reverse.
