Nationwide Refer

Hi,

I was recently looking at my nationwide online account and it said under offers that I could potentially apply for a mortgage. I was a little shocked by this as I have a couple of defaults that are 5 years old. We have been saving like mad and now have a £30,000 and are looking for a mortgage of £150,000.
We tried to get a DIP on there website and it went referred, they have come back and asked for my wife's proof of name and address. I am wondering whether I should carry on with the application or leave it, I am just worried that I am going to be let down if I get my hopes up.
We both bank with Nationwide and my wife has a spotless credit history.

You sound exactly in mine and my husbands boat.
Online DIP was refered. I have a default from 2011 which is now settled. Our credit history is all perfect other than this. They asked for lots and lots of paperwork which have now all been sent over.
Today we got news that we have been sent to an underwriter but still not heard from the DIP decision.
Good luck. And look forward to lots of stressing out!!

Sorry just to add, we did carry on with the application. It does say that the valuation feed etc are non refundable but we were willing to take this risk as we had an offer accepted on a beautiful house
  • We have worked our socks off to get to this stage, I guess it's good that it wasn't a auto decline. We will take the proofs in tomorrow and see what happens.

Yea us too I know the feeling! We had been renting and saving for the past year and I can't actually believe that we are applying for a mortgage sometimes! It's crazy!
Keep positive that it isn't just a decline... They must see some positive on us to not just decline!
