Hire Purchase/Faulty Car Issues
I’m looking for a bit of advice regarding my hire purchase finance agreement and an issue with the car I have (Seat Ibiza Cupra). Firstly, I bought the car at the start of last November (November 2014) and I’ve had issues with the oil consumption with the car, which it has been in the garage previously about and they have assured me this is fixed. It went through its MOT yesterday and failed miserably on the emissions, with the results being so far off the scale the tester was unable to print a copy of the results for the test.
I am 90% sure this is a piston ring/piston problem, as a lot of owners of this particular car have stated that they have had issues with the piston rings and were changed under warranty, in fact there are hundreds of forum posts about this on the internet. I have the car in on Monday for a test on the cylinders which will determine if this is the fault. My problem is that if it is the piston rings and my warranty doesn’t cover it, where do I stand with regards to the car and the agreement? I will not be able to afford over £2,000 worth of repair work on this car and will essentially have a car I’m not able to run due to the engine close to failure, no MOT and no tax.
Is there anything I can do to terminate the agreement with the finance company in this case? I’m really not sure what my options or rights are regarding this, so I’m looking for some friendly advice, anything would be helpful. I’ve tried to include as much information as I can think of but if I’ve missed anything out I’ll be happy to provide. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I doubt you can cancel the finance agreement as its not their fault, they only supplied the money for the car.You need to take it back to the garage where you bought it and speak (dont shout it gets you nowhere) to the seller and try to come to an agreement with them...good luck.0

Well if its finance they do, as its the finance company that buys the carDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

That was my thought, as the car is technically the finance company's property until I've fully paid the finance off. I guess it'll be best if I phone up the finance company and ask them the options?0

but you are responsible for keeping the car in good order until the finance is paid off, your first port of call is the garage that supplied it,aren't seat part of VW?0

don't expect much from them, I had a 4 year old leon. engine and turbo blew at 83k! They didn't seem to care, I bought it from a seat garage at 3 years oldDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
