Hi there,
I currently work for a company selling mortgages and am employed. I have recently qualified as an advisor and would like to find my own clients. I would also like to carry on doing some work for the company I am employed by and maybe charge them for that work?
Not sure how to do this going forward. I could go self employed with my own clients, but would be using the 'company name' still. I have a feeling that I can't do this.
Need some guidance. What about if I give up my employed status and become a self employed/consultant within the company?
Not sure im explaining this well.

Whether you can or can't do it will depend on what your employer allows, but I'd be very surprised if they do. You're asking to have your cake and eat it, if you want the freedom of self employment then you have to accept the risks that come with it.0

You can't use someone else's company name without their express written permission. I doubt they would put you as a freelance/self employed when you already have a job with them - they are likely just to terminate if you tried anything.
You cannot state to any clients outside of the business about the "company name". That could land you in a whole pile of trouble, legal costs etc.
Best thing to do would be to set up your own business with your own name, and double check that you are able to do that - some employment contracts specifically prohibit conflicts of interest; if in doubt, seek proper advice from either the HR team or a legal professional.0
