A couple of months ago, I carried out a factory reset to my laptop (vista ultimate) and it was the best thing I did. I then decided to install chrome which is my browser of choice. I added a couple of extensions, adblock plus and pocket.
When I start up, invariably two rotating boxes pop up saying there two extensions have crashed and if I'm quick enough, I can click them to get them to operate, but it's just as easy to let them go, then go to menu, tools and enable the two extensions.
My question is this, why? I recently read elsewhere that this happens to other people which I am pleased about, as it means "it's not me". How can this be rectified please.

Hi
When I used Chrome it used to hang before it even started then Silverlight would crash. I gave up and now use citrio - http://citrio.com/ which is the same as chrome but doesn't crash and has a fast start-up.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
Extensions are basically little programmes that run code, usually within a "sandbox" in the browser to add functions.
Like any computer code they can and do crash, and it can happen for any number of reasons, such as if it's in a browser they may be reading and reacting badly to a bit of scripting on a web page (asically code on the webpage that is telling the browser to do something). Some browsers used to crash a lot because people forget to put something like a fullstop or a closed bracket in somewhere (a bit like on there if you use the VBB codes which require [ b ] and then [ / b ] (remove spaces) to get and then but if you forget the / or one of the brackets everything after that will be bold. Do that with code the browser itself is running and depending on where it happens and the browser it could give you an error.
So the extension could crash due to something on a web page, down to the extension being poorly written, something in the browser has changed and the extension no longer knows how to handle it, or any one of a million things (some might not cope if you've got too many tabs open, or viewing a page with a lot of images/video).0 -
