How can I improve my credit rating 6 years after bankruptcy?

Firstly, sorry for another one of these threads, the others seem to be from people that still have a BR on their file. My circumstances are a bit different as mine fell off my credit file in August and I want to try to improve my credit rating now as I'm hoping to get a mortgage in the next few years.
I already have a Vanquis credit card that I've been using for years. Is there any benefit to having a second credit card? Or would I benefit from cancelling this and getting a better card? The interest on this is obviously bad, but I pay off the balance every month so that doesn't really matter.
I have a phone contract that's in someone else's name, so I can't apply for my own as this doesn't end for another year. I still have a 7 year old financial connection on my credit file with an ex partner, will this be affecting my credit score and can I get it removed? The connection ended when I filed for bankruptcy.
Any other suggestions are appreciated too.
