Data Media and Research ltd?

Hi all,
I'm new to MSE, although not entirely new to comping. Whilst reading over a thread mentioning sites to avoid I noticed that Nuts mag (does that still exist?) was on the list because their comps are/were run by Data Media and Research Ltd. The name stood out to me as they seem to run a lot of the mag dailies which seem to be quite popular on here and which I have recently started entering.
My question is, has anyone who does the mag dailies had any issues with their information being misused? I've done a search on here but can't see any problems mentioned.
I feel a bit silly as I usually play it quite safe with my info which normally limits the type/number of comps I enter but I recently decided that I was being too cautious. Now I don't know? I'm not very "in the know" when it comes to these things so I don't know what people can/can't do with your info and mag dailies require your dob. I'm not overly concerned with email spam (in regards to volume) but I do care about fraud etc. My main issue being that I wouldn't even be sure how I'd know if something was wrong. Am I needlessly fretting? I am quite a worrywart.
Also, thanks to all who post comps. I've only come across a couple of new comps since signing up and of course they were already posted. You guys are on it! :T

DMRI is a Sheffield company who run all the mag dailies and click-to-wins for TimeIncUK (formerly IPC) and Hearst. No problems have been reported from this providing you decline any "marketing" questions asked during submission.
Nuts ceased to exist about 18 months ago. I think the reason they are on our SPAM LIST is that it was one of the first IPC mags to move over to DMRI from running their own comps, and at the time there were lots of similarities to sites like "My Offers" which do have a history of generating Spam.0 -
The click to wins on the Bauer media titles are nothing to do with dmri, they only need an e-mail address to enter and have prizes that are always won unlike the match 3 number instants from dmri.
Dmri are also behind at least two sites that are blocked on mse not just some on the spam list BUT I have not seen reports of spam attributed to them - also since signing up to MyOffers in April no spam from them but 4 small prizes.
Unless a foreign company is behind a site they now nearly all comply with the relevant parts of the data protection act you just have to watch what boxes you tick or untick.0 -
Thanks guys. So it seems it's all in what box you tick...that's put my mind at ease.
Although it leads me to one more question- when entering the dailies, bar the first day I entered, no surveys etc display just the confirm entry button. I don't have adblock, is this strange?0
