tax reclaim on further training

Afternoon All .
Quick question regarding keeping skills /knowlegde up to date .
I work in the health and safety sector .In order to keep my knowlegde upto date and relevant i need to regularily untake training courses .Such as manual handling train the trainer ,CoSHH ,radiation awarness .
etcetc
I think i understand that i can not reclaim the initial training costs
I did a NEBOSH general certifcate which is the entry level course required . My question s can i reclaim the cost of keeping my training up to date

    Assuming you are an employee, only if such training is "neccessary" as required in your contract of employment. If your contract of employment doesn't require it, then no. Even if allowable, you don't get the full cost back, it's only tax relief you get at your marginal tax rate, so if you're a basic rate taxpayer, you get a tax rebate of 20% of the cost of training.
