Quick Quid/Mackenzie Hall Help Needed

Good Morning

Hoping this is the right place to post..

Approximatley in 2011 i took out a small loan of £150 with quick quid and managed to repay in full, no problems. Then i borrowed again and long story short got into the payday cycle with numerous companies.

All these loans were repaid in full eventually having set payment plans up

Recently i have seen in the press regarding payday loans who have perhaps acted in ways they shouldnt have, now i am not slating payday companies because most of them have been helpful and fair and i accept that i shouldnt have borrowed and dont need someone slating me but anyway my query is the following

Recently i have sent a few complaints to companies and have been successfull in getting small gestures back from them

Capital Finance One - Refunded £150
Cash Genie - Refunded £150
Wonga - Refunded £70

Quick Quid have come back to me with a gesture of £150 to be refunded plus £318 which apparently is what i owe to be wiped and deleted from my credit file, my problem is i fully repaid the loan which amounted in the end to approx £760. I paid half with quick quid and then it was passed to mackenzie hall, quick quid are saying that i never paid mackenzie hall and the debt is £318 but they will wipe it. I think its funny that i have never had any correspondance of this so called outstanding debt yet all of a sudden there it is!

This morning i have found confirmation from mackenzie hall stating the full balance has been received and this was back in 2012 so my question is where do i stand in getting a full refund of £150 plus £318 which amounts to £469? My theory is they offered me £150 plus offered to clear my so called debt of £318, now i have confirmation this has been paid do you think they should refund £469 as this amounted to there offer?

I really dont want to drag this out so i should i just accept the £150 or fight for the full amount they offered to wipe the debt with?

Sorry for rambling any help appreciated!

  • Hello

Just an update on this, i have decided to accept the £150 offer from quick quid as i couldnt be bothered fighting it and as it was years ago i thought i would accept it as in fairness it was a gesture

My only concern was in 2012 i paid the outstanding balance of £318 to Mackenzie hall but the offer from quick quid said they would clear my outstanding balance, on logging into my account i could see that there was an outstanding balance, i was shocked at this because i know it has been paid in full and i have had no contact from them, they basically said whatever i paid to a third party debt collector as nothing to do with them
and i had an outstanding balance with them, i tried to get it through to them that they sold the debt to Mackenzie hall and i had paid them but they just wasnt understanding they were saying my balance was still outstanding

As i have accepted the offer there is nothing i can do but it has really annoyed me the fact i have paid it to Mackenzie hall in faull and now quick quid as a gesture have wiped a balance that has already been paid!
  • Sorry another update now having logged onto my account today my balance seems to have increased to £350! Anyone got any advice? I am at my wits end, whats more is it seems me sending a complaint as opened a can of worms , i am more annoyed because i have paid in full!

If you've reached an impass with this, your next step is to refer the matter to the financial ombudsman.
That is there role to settle disputes about most things of a financial nature.
You can download a complaint form from there website, you must of followed the complaints procedure of the company you are complaining about, and had either, there final responce or had 8 weeks pass since you first complained.

  • Hello

Thank you for both your replies

No one has given me £350 i got £150 as a gesture of goodwill and an offer of £319 debt to be cleared, the problem is the debt was paid years ago to Mackenzie Hall who seem to have dissapeared of the face of the earth, quick quid are saying it doesnt matter what i paid to a third party as my loan with them still stands

Problem is i have accepted the offer, i suffer depression and to be honest it was stressing me out and i was getting worked up so i accepted it and because i accepted i cant take it any further which i accept but i am mad that they said that £319 was a gesture to clear my balance when i have proof the balance was paid

They are a nightmare, they dont seem to understand anything i say and just either ignore my emails or send me automated emails back

Anyway i think i will just let this lie but i am annoyed that i have apparently paid money to a company for this debt and only now after i complain it says my account is outstanding and it has wrecked my credit file!

Thank you for all your help
