I think it is a good idea - I know it is only for a couple of months but there are lots and lots of advents and it will help to keep both the 'advent haters' and 'advent lovers' happy :)
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea
  • Could we stash them all in the pretty defunct regular completions sticky maybe? Then no need for a new sub forum, no need for them to be on the main board but still easy enough to find?

Advents will almost certainly be posted in way they always have been*, the only question will be if anyone bothers with a summary thread or not.

(*you can no longer place a bet on this since unusual betting patterns were detected on doubles with the outcome of this and who would win the GBBO)

I really hope they are not put on sub board, it will be chaos, 90% of comps in December are advents, Not everyone will know what is where and chaos will ensue, It's worked on main for many years, chaotic yes but that's how they are.

An advent thread is needed for order otherwise people who aren't as computer savvy won't be able to find them amongst the board moving fast.

I'm more than able to use folders to sort mine but not everyone can.

Oh yes please, then all those who feel compelled to enter for every piddling prize with the word advent attached to it can congregate there and leave the 'proper ' prizes to those who don't get sucked in.

Every year people miss out on decent prizes as they desperately try to win a bit of tinsel losing sleep and making themselves ill in the process.

Harsh for someone who joined in June

I done over £3,500 on advents last year, over £2000 in vouchers and electricals, then a £1000 pair of designer shoes. I'd call them proper prizes.

i think we absolutely should bother with a summary thread. it's so useful for people who, in the run up to Xmas, don't have time to go through each page of the board, they can just use the summary thread :)

Nope, been around for many years under a different name.

    Thank you for your interest.

Incidentally how long does someone have to be here before they have your consent to offer an opinion ?
