in Cutting tax
My company buy from China into uk and pay duty inbound then ship to the states etc. Obviously we could be more efficient and ship straight from China, however we have stock that is not selling in the states and want to repatriate back to the uk, will we have to pay duty again to do this or how can we get round it or claim it back?

Sounds like you've been diddled.
You're paying EC duty and UK VAT then shipping them to the USA and then paying their dutyDo you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -
I don't know the answer to your question, but couldn't you have put the goods into bond on their arrival in the UK before onward shipping to USA/Canada?0
