Christmas Trees - is 4 excessive?!?!?

I am still currently hiding form the workmen in my house so I have decided to try and get in the festive spirit but I am very aware that I am enjoying fall adn harvest too much at the minute but me and my sister B have sat and had a colour scheme for decorating chat - my new kitchen is to be magnolia and cream so Im thinking that a gingerbread and candycane theme will do nicely.....whereas my living room is grey/black/silver/white so I am debating a new black tree which will be a first for me.......but this means then I will have a 3ft green tree (that sits on the landing in my stairway) a 6ft green tree (possibly to go in the kitchen) and a black 6/7ft tree for the living room.......AND the kids have asked for their own trees this year in there rooms..........but Im thinking if I can move minx in with my dude on Xmas eve night (bunk beds) then I can perhaps sneak a small tree with battery lights into the room and put there stockings underneath as a christmas surprise ..........I just think that 4 christmas trees is a bit excessive?
How many trees do you have? and what is your decorating style?

We have one tree - I'd be wary of putting a tree on the stairs (trip hazard), and not sure a kitchen needs so much decor, but each to their own.
Overdecorating can look tacky and cheap, but think less is more and you'll be fine.0 -
I think however many you like is fine. Chrostmas decoration doesn't need to be about colour cordination and trying to look like a design magazine.
Last year I hosted christmas and jut had the one tree, but the previous year at my parents home we had 4
- one big, real tree in the living room, decorated to within an inch of it's life with baubles which have ben kept and saved over the years, including some which used to belong to each of my sets of grandparents.
- 1 medium sixed artifical tree in the dining room, decorated carefully in a set colour scheme, with small baubles at the top and large ones at the bottom, and coordinating with the crackers which we had on christmas day
- 1 tiny artificial tree (originally bought for my grandmother's room, when she was in a nursing home) on the hall windowsill
- 1 wooden, flat pack tree on another window sill.
If you want lots, have lots. If you prefer just one, have one. If you want one that matches your decor and your kids want to decorate one to their tastes, have two.
It's supposed to be fun - do what makes you happy. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Four trees sounds like a lot when you say it like that but if you have the space for four trees and that's what you want then go for it. I've never had more than one tree.0

I've got a six foot flocked tree in the living room, with white lights and snowflakes/icicles/reindeer, all in clear, white and red. In my porch i have a white manzanita tree with red lights and snowflakes.
I get a small tree for my kitchen windowsill.
If i had the room i would definitely have a tree in every room!! Whatever suits you i say.0 -
My record is 6 one year
7ft traditonal one in the living room, trendy looking silver and white scheme in the conservatory, slimlime white pop up in the hall and 3x 3ft ones in the kids bedrooms. Tacky? Yes but its xmas :rotfl:
MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Only one, but I do go for the cheap and tacky look.
Reminds me of the terrible decorations the grandparents used to put up, so I go for the more the merrier over the top tree decoration front. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I was thinking I would love to have space for 4 trees and then realised I do actually have 4 trees up every year lol. I have one in the living room 5 ft, my son has a small 3ft tree and my dausghter has a pink gittery 3ft tree, in the kitchen we have a small wooden 50cm tree on the windowsill. I absolutely LOVE christmas time and would say to you that do what makes YOU and your family happy.0

I have a large real tree in the sitting room, a smaller real tree in the dining room, and a very large real tree in the front garden which we planted after our first Christmas in this house 30 years ago.
I have a 3ft artificial tree in the office, and I am in charge of decorating the tree in Reception every year too. Bliss.0 -
We have 4.
One is our main one which goes in our living room. We actually need to buy a new one this year so it will be a real one.
Second tree used to go in the hallway but now goes in the dining room. This tree is 6ft, black and is pre-lit so no fussing about with strings of fairy lights. I was always unsure of the black trees as I think that the green ones are nicer and more traditional. However, it actually looks lovely with the silver and dark purple/plum tree decorations, which match my dining room d!cor.
Third and fourth trees are just small (maybe 4ft) in our daughter's bedrooms. I wont allow them to have fairy lights on the trees in their room just in case of fire hazard, but they have a few nice decorations to put on them which they're happy with.0 -
i have only one tree, a 3ft artificial tree in the living room decorated with blue lights, small silver baubles, silver beads, star and a 10 tiny ladybird pegs. I decorate it on my own and it takes me ages to get it just so!!
I have a really cheap tree at church for the kids group (cost me £2.50 in the sales 5 years ago) and this is a different affair colored battery lights and bright nativity decorations and whatever craft ideas we can come up with (often adding things in the Sundays before Christmas).
I love both trees - for many years i did not bother - until a friend with kids came to stay for a wedding that was a few days after Christmas.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
