Switching my mortgage

HI everyone - i'm a newbie so please go easy on me.
At the moment i'm struggling financially. I was made redundant in October 14 however found a new job straight away - brilliant! However I am on less money and there is no overtime. Last week I went to my bank (RBS) for a review of my finances and was told if I switch my mortgage from Halifax to them I can actually save quite a lot per month. So my question is, if I can save a lot switching to RBS, could I save even more by switching to another provider?
In my last job a colleague told me that he pays a financial advisor to find him the cheapest best rate. Can anybody advise on a service similar which can help me like this? I can't make contact with my old colleague to ask him.
Many thanks
Jonathan
