Phew I finally called them

Well I finally called payplan earlier with a list of everything including creditors and soa. It was a big step for me as I was really scared of calling. I have no idea why as they were good and very matter of fact about everything and not once did I feel like an idiot or a second class citizen. My husband and I are doing it jointly even though our debts are in seperate names.
Just got to await the outcome now, am hoping that it will be a dmp as I'm not too keen on getting tied down to an IVA.
Does anyone know if there is a choice or do they suggest one option and that's all you get?

They can only recommend if you don't like the idea of IVA don't do it, to be honest IVA is a big step it is not far from bankrupcy and only a good idea in a small number of circumstances. A DMP is yes possibly longer but less severe to your credit history and slightly more flexible.
There is a huge thread on here DMP support one pop in there lots of us some doing our own, some with Payplan and some with CCCS they are all lovely people with a wealth of experience and mutual support.0 -
Good on you for picking up the phone. Although I am not in a DMP etc, I have on occasion called payplan for advice and have always found them and CCCS to be most helpful.

Well done for taking the first step, it's definitely one of the hardest things i've had to do, i was shaking with nerves. At one point i could barely speak cos the guy i was talking to was so lovely and i was really choking back the tears! CCCS have been great and they're not in the least bit judgmental which is great when you're desperate for help.LBM AUGUST 07 _pale_Debt at LBM £26k :eek:2 payments into DMP with CCCS :TOfficial DFW Nerd Club Member 674- Proud to be dealing with my debts0

a dmp should last no more than 7 years, an iva 5 years, and bankruptcy 6 years, it depends on whether or not you have anything of value to lose, any decent organisation will only give you the advantages and disadvantages of each option, it is entirely up to you which way you go, you can even change your mind, your circumstances may well be diferent in a years time, good luck.0
