Disputed debt

Hello,
I have a debt which is in dispute. The company did not submit final invoices to insurance to be paid. I have written proof of this from insurance company.
Refused to listen or deal with me and handed it to debt collection.
Have said repeatedly it's in dispute and it needs to be returned but they have said the company refuse to take it back so tough! I have to deal with them and they will take me to court.
What can I do now? I have all the above on email, including them saying they can't send it back.
Can anyone help please?
Thank you.

Were this company instructed by your insurance company or by you?
Have they submitted some invoices to your insurance company but just not their final invoice?
Do you agree that the work was completed? Does your insurance company?
Did they send this final invoice to yourself /addressed to you?
In terms of the debt collection agency, has everything been by email so far? If so then I would write to them (postal) and state that as per your previous communication the debt is in dispute with the original creditor and that you will not be entering in to any further communication with them whilst the dispute is unresolved.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
