Hate my job! Didn't sign contract and want to leave! Off the waiting list?

Hello

I started a part time job recently which I really really hate! :( I'm on carer's allowance as well and I'm still getting it as they told me to contact them when I get my first pay but that's not until the end of October!

I've spoke to the boss and told her I'm really unhappy at the job and it's affecting my health etc and I might have to leave. She said if I do leave I need to send her a letter or resignation!

I said well I haven't even signed a contract yet and do I have to, she didn't seem to answer that and just said she'd need a letter if I was to leave the post?

Been told my name would be removed from the waiting list in the hospital trust if I leave but as ones have said to me you haven't signed any contract so why should it?

Not sure if anyone has any views on this but I really do hate this job and am thinking of leaving it! :(

Not sure what the waiting list is about but with regards a contract, regardless of it not being in writing the fact you turn up for work and get paid it means you do have a contract. As such, a request resigning is a reasonable request.

Just because you've not signed a contract doesn't mean one doesn't exist. you've been turning up at work and are expecting your employers to pay you in return, so there's an expectation in place from each side. In the absence of anything to the contrary, you'd be expected to give a weeks notice of quitting as a statutory minimum.

OP has probably been there less than a month no statutory notice.

Work out your notice requirements in the contract and give it.
