Hi when we phoned a mortgage broker 6.30 in the evening with all our details for self cert remortgage he said he'd phone us next day at 11.00 after he'd done credit checks searched for a lender etc. True to his word he phoned and said we'd passed the credit checks and found us a sub prime lender (not bad - fixed rate). We filled all the application forms and sent documents etc now its going to the underwriters will they repeat credit checks etc? (They have sent the valuer around(ok) and appointed a solicitor) I am on tenterhooks and need reassurance cos I hate waiting - its causing me sleepless nights until I get a decision!!!   (By the way this started on the 1st August)

It will depend on the lender and what checks that they have done in the AIP. Usually the credit check and score will have been done by now and all the underwriters are doing is ensuring that everything matches in terms of info given on initial app to full app and they will be doing any referencing to previous lenders etc.
Dont panic and just wait to see what happens - afterall you cannot change anything.
Anyway - apologies on behalf of JoeK, our triple personality mortgage broker and his short and useless comments.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi thanks for your advice. Its only just going to underwriters now because a form that needed signing has just been sent out to us and we'v got to send that back. When I spoke to our mortgage processor she said our credit check is "fantastic" which I was surprised about (I've not got mortgage arrears or anything but have sometimes paid credit cards a few days late) they just need this form sending back which she reckons they sent out first class recorded on Friday (but I didn't get it yesterday and now I'm panicking cos its got personal information on it!) but apart from that she says everything looks absolutely fine. Just waiting now and waiting.......biting my fingernails etc.
