Liquid eyeliner stain on carpet

My daughters friend has managed to drop a liquid eyeliner (black!) onto her pale carpet to create a very dark stain, they've tried numerous methods to clean it but nothing has been successful as yet.. any weird and wonderful ideas out there? Carpet is not wool.
TIA :)

I'm probably stating the obvious, but I assume she's tried using the make-up remover she uses to take the stuff off her eyes?

Spray deodorant should get it off, but test it somewhere first just incase it leaves a mark, this will also remove any pen stains. Be very generous with it then press kitchen roll onto the carpet to soak it and the stain up.
