I ordered one motherboard and received two through the post and had sold on one to a friend. Three days later had an email for me to contact them to return so was wondering what are my rights and what do I do?
Thanks
Thanks

You have the right to return the extra motherboard or pay for it.
It was not unsolicited goods but a delivery error and as such they have the right to require you to either return it or pay for it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It wasn't your board to sell if it was sent by mistake. You should have given them a opportunity to come and collect it at your convenience.0

Sent in error but not your property, so tell them to either send a courier to collect it or a postage paid label depending on what's easiest for you.
It isn't yours and to hold on to it is theft. Pretty straightforward.0 -
I had an item sent in error , two years ago. (The company owed me a spare accessory, but sent a complete item , by mistake)
I informed them and they said it would be collected by courier (a date was given), who would bring the correct accessory. This did not happen, so I emailed them , but got no reply and no collection.
I then kept the item for a year and then deemed it to be mine, having given the company two chances and ample time to put things right.0 -
Sorry not explained properly let me try to clarify. Let me explain what exactly happend.
I went online to a well known retaile - and purchased one item (item a) this cost £140 with this item came a free item (item b) should of cast £40 this is why I selected item a over other similar items.
I paid the £140 for my item a and free item b and noticed a second item a on the invoice at a cost of £0.00 I thought nothing of this and waited for delivery.
When the parcel arrived and as expected I had item a and free item b but also, as per my invoice I had my second item a at zero cost.
I have since had an email from the retailer making me aware of an error and requesting that I return the second item a from my invoice listed as £0.00.
My question to you guys is what is my legal obligation.0 -
If you have an invoice saying £0 then thats a bit different to a straight up delivery error but what do their Ts and Cs say. I would be astonished if they dont have an "internet site went wonky' part that entitles you to send it back in case of such a pricing error.
Was there a clearly advertised buy one get one free offer? Was it reasonable to assume that this wasn't right and might be a mistake? did you contact them to make sure?
What steps did you take to ensure legal title was yours prior to selling it?Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700
Mortgage..............=........£138,000 , 20 Years left.
:starmod:CC cashback for this year..=........£112.88 £205.81 banked in 2015

My case was similar, but I got my original item but with no free item. When I reported this , they sent me a complete item and not just the free extra battery.
I knew that I had no right to the complete item, as it was sent in error and not as an unsolicited 'sale', so informed the company.
OP, the second item a is not yours as it was sent by mistake and not in the hope that you would buy it, so, as has been mentioned, you should let them collect it (at their expense as it was their error) or pay for it.
Some companies will tell you to keep items sent in error, but this is usually when it has a low value and you have informed them of the mistake.0 -
Bit of a dumb question here OP but why not ask the company if you are not sure? If you are worried about drawing their attention to their error, it's the same as saying nothing and waiting for them to bill you for their mistake.
Just send them an email (it's free and a phone call might not be) ask them outright, point to the invoice which states the item costing zero or just send them an email to thank them for both the freebies- see what they say. Fastest way to clear things up.0
