Number of children + Child maintenance payment

Hi,

Looking to apply for a new mortgage since splitting with the wife.
I have 3 kids, which will be staying with their mum 80% of the time, so will be paying a bit child maintenance.
When applying for a mortgage, do I say I have 3 children staying with me, or none?
Obviously it would be a double blow if i have to say 3 + child maintenance payments on top of that in my application, so looking for a little bit help.

thanks

Craig

  • If they live with the mother most of the time, you would apply as if you have no dependants living with you and just declare the maintenance payments as a financial commitment.
    Slummy mummy!
  • Thanks for that Contemptuous :)

Thats what I was hoping for before I apply. Those darn kids sure put a dent in the affordabilty calculator :rotfl:

Ah well at least you don't have to pay for a roof over their heads, school uniform , pocket money , clothes anymore just "a bit" of child support.

Must be quite a relief for you !

A bit harsh if as I expect you know next to nothing about the OP or their circumstances.

With the fact that they are trying to find out if they can afford a home for themselves we might be able to guess a little about their circumstances though.

    I'm not sure i'd call 25% of income " a bit " ....

    Lol.:rotfl:

Yep, like others have said , you dont know anything about my circumstances , what I pay to my ex, or what I contribute towards the childrens lifestyle.

Sounds to me like you have been burned by an ex if you are coming out with that statement. Not all ex partners are scumbags when it comes to their children :p

I can now afford a 4 bedroom house, rather than a 3 bedroom house, which will be better for my kids when they stay over. :j
