Cosmetic Surgery

Not sure if this is the right place, but it seemed the most appropriate.

Does anyone know what the ballpark price for breast reduction is? And is it cheaper if it's only for one side?

When I say ballpark I'm meaning, should I be thinking more or less than £2k?

It does, yes. Since my op, without going into too much detail, one side is about three times the size of the other. It didn't bother me at first, but now I cringe everytime I look in the mirror.

Speak to your GP first, this may well be a situation where the NHS will fund surgery. It depends on your CCG's policies as it differs from area to area.

I've been seeing the breast clinic and oncology every six months, and neither have mentioned corrective surgery. So I presumed it wasn't available in my case.

After I had a mastectomy I had a breast reconstruction, then followed by a reduction of the other breast because, as the surgeon said "we can't match the droop":o.

I agree with P1, ask your GP or breast clinic because this might well be available for you on the NHS.

You should be able to get an idea on the price of private surgery on here.

You can often find the local policy for your area freely available online.

Like this, which is for Dorset, but google for where you live:

    http://www.dorsetccg.nhs.uk/Downloads/aboutus/Policies/Clinical/Policies%20from%20Sept%202014/Criteria%20Based%20Access%20Protocol%20-%20Breast%20Surgery.pdf

The criteria and circumstances where they'll consider funding can vary substantially.

Just had a proper look at your link. Phew, a lot costlier than I thought. I'm chuckling at myself thinking I might get some change out of £2k.
