I have found that if you get mince and stir fry it for a few minutes with chopped onions and after cooling, freeze it in individual-sized bags it makes a good base for quickly making savoury mince, chilli, and spaghetti bolognaise etc. The big advantage about freezing the mince in this way is that it is crumbly in the bag and breaks up quickly when brought out of the freezer and thrown into the pan thus meaning that defrosting takes minutes or even seconds.0

I put peas and sweetcorn in with the pasta and sauce, melt cheese over the top and then when it's done leave to cool, then portion up to freeze. Can get about 7-8 portions out of it depending on how much I make.r
I would also make batches of Chilli, Bolognese sauce and Lasagne, portion up into takeaway containers or buy them in the £ shops, and they're always something in the freezer of needed.
I'd love to be able to do chicken curry but it just doesn't work for meThink I'll have to start just using curry sauce in it's own lol.
Could you give me your pasta bake receipe please? My friend once gave me hers but I lost it and I don't see her much these days. I'm trying to go more low fat, which sauces and cheese do you use?0 -

I've tried quite a few over the years - best I've found so far is Harry Ramsdens .... they do tend to be something I'd rather not skimp on. This tin isn't perfect .... and today while I was out I picked up some Mr M's to try at some future point.
So many aren't like "real mushy peas" that you used to get at the chippy (although a lot of modern chippies fail to deliver too). Mum used to make them from dried peas years ago; I'm not such a huge user of them that this would be a sensible route for me.
I probably use 2 cans/year at a guess.0
