A Twitter comp question!!

Sorry if been asked before!! :o

I'm still getting my head round Twitter comps and as yet to win anything (while entering 100's) I'm left wondering if I'm doing it right!!

Is it better to 'favourite" comps and to leave a message other than just retweet the standard tweet back?

Also what does it mean if a company favourites your tweet? I got my hopes up the 1st time it happened but nothing else happened after so do they just favourite random tweets??

Many thanks...To think I used class myself as quite good at technology lol!!

Twitter comps get so many entries as they are so easy to enter (click Retweet and move on) bots have even got on the bandwaggon making it even harder to win

34,500 tweets and I have never won a Twitter comp

Shouldn't matter but some think commenting/interacting with a page helps, certainly shouldn't harm (I don't know the ratio of wins to retweeters vs those who comment as well).

Means nothing in relation to your chances of winning.

It really depends. We get a lot of 'I don't understand Twitter' posts on here. I suspect it is largely the same with companies in a way. They use the terminology (often wrong like saying 'like and share' on Twitter when that is Facebook lingo.)

Often they say F - most assume that means follow. I'm sure for some it means favourite. Many do both 'just in case'. Then you have retweet. There is a retweet button. But some say 'retweet an answer/opinion'. That's not retweeting - that's replying. So I believe some are looking for a reply/interaction even if they just say retweet.

It shouldn't matter - but sometimes it does. I think the most successful compers on Twitter do everything (follow, retweet, favourite, reply/interact) just in case - that way they catch all.

I've only recently picked up on the popular method of hitting retweet but also doing it as a manual retweet (copying and pasting as a reply).

So many ifs and buts. Do what you feel like and move on to the next.

I always thought it seemed so ridiculously easy to retweet that I must be doing it wrong :o
Maybe I am as I've never won!

Most I have seen ask for the comp tweet to be RT'd, or replied to, with whatever #hashtag they are plugging..

Don't fill your timeline with too many, they may think you are a comp bot!

I do much better now I do manual tweets too & make more effort. I RT as normal and usually (unless they have T&C added which says only 1 entry per person) do another manual one in the reply box, minus the picture and sometimes with, sometimes without RT at the start, or a reply with the hashtag. Definitely more interaction produces better results and more followers.

And do have a picture and give a little time to coming up with a Bio that includes a blurb about yourself &interests .. or in other words all the lovely things you like to win.

somebody mentioned this on another thread about twitter comps, so I tried...and had my first twitter win! (a Ben and Jerrys T-shirt). Had another twitter win since then but that is all- (found some great companies I'd never/seen considered buying from before though who have lovely customer service)
