I think it had some coconut oil in it as well, the Aloe was new, however I did have to give the container a wash before hand and I did leave to dry so thinking it might not have fully dried?Read my diaryHere0

Salt & peppermint foot scrub.
This version uses sugar, but the cost of big salt crystals as opposed to sugar makes it a matter of taste.
Glorious happy feet feeling after usage though!0 -

Sorry to be pedantic, but they're not chemical free. Everything is a chemical. You injest dihydrogen monoxide every day. Look it up and you'll find that it is toxic in large quantities, inhaling it kills you, the gaseous form of it burns, when it's solid, it can cause tissue damage.
When I used it to make bath and body products, I had to keep an MSDS (manufacturers safety data sheet) for it in my files.
Sounds scary, and you might be concerned about why this substance isn't banned. Thing is, you wouldn't be alive without it.
It's the chemical name for water.
Not all chemicals are bad for you, not all *natural* substances are good for you (cyanide is natural).
Essential oils are considered to be natural, but they have to be extracted and the process often involves the use of hexane. They don't just squeeze the plant until the oils come out.
There are a lot of essentail oils where their usage is restricted to a tiny percentage (>3%) because using more can cause skin sensitivity, photosensitivity, allergies etc.
There are regulations now that allergens in essential oils have to be listed in cosmetics ingredients lists, such as linalool. I've noticed that Lush say "occurs naturally in essential oils", but don't warn that they're allergens.
If you're concerned about the ingredients in cosmetics, learn how to read scientific peer reviewed papers. You don't necessarily have to read the whole paper, the abstracts usually sum them up nicely. A good place to get information is Pubmed. Avoid scaremongering websites if you want to be properly informed.
I dropped chemistry at school, but when I started learning to make cosmetics, I found it quite interesting.
I hope you don't think I'm having a go a you, I just want you to be better informed and not fall for the scaremongering tactics of those who are using peoples ignorance to sell their wares.0 -
If I could thank that twice, Giger, I would.

I make body scrubs with sugar or salt with some sort of oil, you could use any, like sunflower, I have made it with hemp oil from the supermarket before as it helps my eczema. I put cheap essential oils in like rosemary or eucalyptus, you could use any oils you want. I've made similar l;ip scrubs too with solidified coconut oil and sugar. Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE0
