buying together may prompt a discount, non..? Or wait til next big sales period (pre / post xmas?)

(This assumes I get the job clearance!)

My cooker is on last legs, though has served the family well.
(Creda), and will need a new w/machine at some time..

Any recco's, for reliable makes? If ny firms doing free/cheap repair warranty too, mucho appreciated!

I'm a replace when uneconomical to repair person so I would never replace a working washing machine and will always opt for a repair. I would buy a cooker, machine or any appliance that is easy to repair. I would not buy the cheapest as they usually are impossible to repair. I would google model name and the words repair and problems to see if anyone else has had major problems. I would also google the words after sales service. My preferred brand is Bosch.

If you shop in store you can usually negotiate a discount based on how much you are buying. Online though where most of the cheapest prices are found the price is as displayed.

    Try a local firm perhaps?
We needed a cooker, fridge and tumble dryer at same time. I went into local family owned store and agreed to have all three at once, with about £300 discount. They delivered for free within 48 hours too.

Just bought a new oven and hob from John Lewis and for £140 quid they installed them and took the old ones away.

They don't do super cheap but thats good as you'd be asking the same question in 366 days otherwise.

As for reliable brands I've always bought Miele and not had any issues.

Oven beyond repair! door seals worn out, heat insulation crumbling, and I bet not very good energy rating!

Oven energy efficiency is a bit of a con.

Heating using electricity is always 100% efficient at point of use.

Bigger ovens use more electricity to heat the bigger space but they are more efficient per litre so have A ratings where a smaller oven is cheaper to run but has a B rating as it uses more energy to heat each litre of space. Very strange.

I'd completely ignore any energy rating you see on an oven and get an oven based on the capacity you need. A normal family should only need a medium sized oven. A larger than normal family or a household cooking Sunday roast for a dozen people each weekend and you'll need a large oven and a single person/couple in a studio/flat with no capacity to ever entertain others would be fine with a small oven even though that oven is rated B in energy efficiency it'll be cheaper to run as less space is heated each time it's used.

Local firm would be a good idea. I got quite a good deal when I replaced three kitchen items from a local firm!

If you want to be assured for the repair warranty, then a local firm will be a better choice.
If the machine doesn't work well, you can go to the store directly.
Where they shrug and tell you to speak the manufacturer who shrug and do nothing.

Get a Miele they have long warranties (plus reasonably priced paid for extensions) dealt with in-house plus they don't tend to go wrong. If your a bit strapped for cash then oven prices start at a very reasonable £800.

Have had my Miele DGC6400 for just over a week and am very happy with it.

I used a company called FiresCookers for my white goods over the last few years. They have been pretty good to deal with and seem to be able to et hold of most items from the brands they stock.
