Is it not possible to get the house as tennants in common, have a legal agreement written up saying I own 50% of the house, and my girlfriend is getting a mortgage to make up her 50%.

Or is it possible for me to gift her my deposit money, she then takes out a mortgage and we get a legal agreement written up that I own 50% of the property outright from day 1.

I just find it hard to believe there's no way of doing this, as the way I see it, it's just like if two people wanted to invest in a house, one has 50% ready, the other needs to get a mortgage.
  • It's due to issues on repossessing a property and therefore not being able to use it as security
